Applications are invited for one postdoctoral position for a project entitled "Design, synthesis
of
novel
transition metal complexes
for therapeutic applications" at Center for Nano and Material Sciences (CNMS),
Jain University, Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Ph.D in Chemistry/thesis submitted in Chemistry.
2. Good experimental skills (experience with organic and inorganic synthesis technique). Candidate also
should have a sound background in inorganic/ organic or bioinorganic chemistry. The ability to work
closely and collaborate with colleagues is a must. Proficiency with the English language is required.
Conditions of employment:
The university offers a salary of Rs 35000/- per month. Appointment is for 1year, and can be extended to 2-3
years based on performance. Candidates must be trained in organic/inorganic synthetic methodologies,
chromatographic purification and characterization of the compounds (IR, NMR and other commonly used
spectroscopy technique).

It is planned to prepare and characterize new Ruthenium and Vanadium complexes with anti-tumor and anti¬
parasitic activity, as well as anti-diabetic activity (V-compounds). The influence of the binding of therapeutic
drugs to serum proteins on their transport by blood plasma and uptake by cells is well recognized. The stability
and reactivity of the compounds prepared towards blood plasma constituents namely transferrin and albumin
will be studied to evaluate their bioavailability, as well as their capacity to interact with DNA. The toxicity, anti¬
tumor and anti-parasitic activity will be evaluated in-vitro with adequate cell lines.
